Fiddlesticks music is a programme of music for children aged 6 months to 4 years and runs termly classes and nursery sessions.

The underlying principle of Fiddlesticks Music is to encourage your child’s innate musicality to develop as well as prepare them for nursery or school. But the most important thing is that you and your child have fun... together!

Fiddlesticks music sessions are largely vocally based, with an emphasis on simple to learn songs and set movements aimed at assisting children to improve their social, motor and learning skills through repetition and mirroring. A series of visual aids are used (such as puppets, pictures, movements and actions) to reinforce the learning that is taking place. Classes can run from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the type of class, location and age group.

I teach children and their carers an ever-widening repertoire of songs with set movements, thereby developing hand/eye coordination and rhyme and rhythm skills. Most are quite simple songs that the childrentamborine, and you, will quickly become familiar with by repetition over the weeks. Connecting movements with the words and rhythm, helps with this learning process as well as, on many occasion, developing language comprehension skills (eg up and down, fast and slow, parts of the body or counting).
